Winding down the coast from Sydney
The trip from Sydney to Narooma is around five hours, following the Princes Highway south. The route is easy with plenty of places to stop and stretch your legs. Berry makes a great stop with cafes and bakeries. Further along the trip, Milton offers boutique shops, and unique local food offerings.
Coming from Canberra
From Canberra, Narooma is about three and a half hours southeast through the Southern Tablelands. Passing through Braidwood, the main street is a good spot for a coffee or a slow antique browse. From there, the road winds down Clyde Mountain before arriving at Batemans Bay. The Princes Highway south, takes you through a scenic stretch and down to Narooma.
A little more on the road from Melbourne
From Melbourne, Narooma is roughly eight hours northeast along the Princes Highway. Lakes Entrance makes a natural halfway or break it over two days with an overnighter. Stop for good coffee, waterfront fish and chips, and a moment to breathe in the salty air. Continue towards the New South Wales boarder and you will come across the lovely towns of Eden and Merimbula which are well worth a look.
Fly, drive & thrive
Moruya Airport is the closest to Narooma, with direct flights from Sydney most days. From there, it's a 40 minute drive south along the Princes Highway through small coastal towns and farmland. Moruya and Bodalla are both worth a stop for coffee. Take a short detour through Eurobodalla National Park or pull up at Broulee Beach before the final stretch to The Whale.
Merimbula Airport has direct flights from both Sydney and Melbourne. From there, it's about an hour and twenty minutes north along the Princes Highway through Bega and Cobargo. The road flattens out past farmland and forest before the coast opens up again at Narooma.
